CapX2020 is an initiative involving eleven utilities in the Upper Midwest who collaborated together to invest $2.1 billion in over 800 miles of new high-voltage transmission infrastructure. Large-scale transmission projects are critical for the development of new energy infrastructure, but are notoriously hard. Successful projects engage with a multitude of stakeholders to justify project need; ensure proper line design and placement; and account for environmental, economic, and social impacts of the project.
